Build Your Website Your Way with No Regrets

Would you put the success of your website in the hands of a stranger? It's something like putting your career in the hands of your twin brother or sister. You and your twin are identical, but would you send him or her to your job on Mondays and Fridays to replace you on your job? Do they have your work ethic? Do they know exactly what you want to accomplish? Will they have the drive, goals, and motivation it takes to end up in the corporate board room meeting?

Many of us believe that in the infancy stages of building or designing a website, that you need a professional website designer or guru to even get started. You may not know the "bells and whistles" of website design, seo, affiliate programs but you are more importantly knowledge on the website topic (or have the willingness to learn) and definitely more concerned about your reputation and your success. I am a true believer that if one is provided with the proper tools and determination anything is possible.

If you initially hire someone to design your website, you will easily be persuaded to accept or agree with 90% of the recommendations presented to you by your web designer. If you have no knowledge of website design this would be quite natural as you are looking for someone to take the lead.

There are probably many of website designers who can produce a beautiful, high quality website with great look and feel, user friendly navigation and much more. But the real questions are "Does it represent the message or information you are trying to communicate to your visitors?" "Does it give a sense of your personality and passion for the website topic?" "Will the visitor return to or refer your website to others?" These or just a few questions to ask yourself.

Well I have built a website that doesn't have a lot of "bells or whistles", but it does provide my message and knowledge by providing an abundance of content and information for my visitors. There aren't a great number of images which I will add, and that would eventually bring more unique and returning visitors, which I would consider as the "bonus round".

Your website should reflect your personality, passion, and humor that only you can bring to each webpage unless of course it's a "shirt and tie" type topic. I've learned a lot in building and designing my website, information and knowledge I would not have obtained by having someone take care of my "internet baby" (website).

Do I intend to use a professional website designer at some point? I always have and intend to do so for consultation and possibly for look and feel upgrades to take my website to the next level.

Do yourself a favor, build and design your website and gain a substantial amount of knowledge before putting your "internet baby" in the hands of a stranger.
